We have a great opportunity with our prestigious client in the North East for a proven Operations Manager. A truly global market leader in the chemical sector. Our client manages multiple complex supply chains.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To successfully manage and lead all Operational activities at the Newcastle Depot, including management of chemical storage within the warehouse and bulk tanks, legal and regulatory compliance and the transport and distribution of chemicals within the North East of England. Also to ensure operational activities are carried out in a safe and cost effective manner, in line with budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsible for site safety management system and approval of all site operational documents including processes, procedures and inspections.
Manage the contact / interface with all appropriate regulatory / professional bodies.
Senior role in all aspects of chemical incident control for the Newcastle Depot
Report to senior management on Near Misses, Misloads, PSPI performance.
Create, agree & achieve annual cost budgets.
Work closely with Transport Manager to ensure safe and efficient distribution of chemicals on depot fleet.
Act as Permit to Work, SAP and Legionella Responsible person
Act as site Health and Safety lead coordinator
Identify site improvements – operational compliance / efficiency – and ensure these are communicated in a timely manner and included in the annual capex plan.
Create and implement agreed capex requirements in a timely, efficient manner including MoC requirements.
Effectively manage operational teams at Newcastle Depot, including storage, distribution & chemical filling schedules.
Identify & drive all area’s of operational improvement required to meet future / projected business needs.
Have ability to liaise with customer base on operational and technical requirements, including safe compliance and tank / site inspections
Liaise with other depot site Operations Managers for best practice sharing depot cooperation
Responsible for management and upkeep of packaging fleet
Undertake designated site ops / engineering inspections.
Ensure out of hours emergency calls are dealt with effectively
Ensure staff development
Undertake any reasonable tasks or duties assigned by your line manager from time to time, related to the effective and efficient performance of the job, and providing they are within the post holders skills and ability

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

National level 3 qualifications in related technical fields or Maths & science essential.
IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications essential.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Operations management in the chemicals industry essential. Knowledge and experience of storage and distribution Knowledge of inorganic chemistry and associated processes desirable Knowledge / experience of HAZOP activities desirable
