CDM Employee Spotlight

Name: Joanne Redpath

Title: Credit Controller

Joanne Redpath

How long have you worked for CDM?

Just over 3 years

Tell us about a typical working day in your role at CDM:

A typical day would be checking my emails first thing and responding to anything that may be urgent.  I would then log onto the bank to check for payments and allocate to accounts, dealing with any queries as I go.  I would then look to process any invoices or credit notes that have been requested, credit checks, invoice requests.

As credit controller my main job is to ensure that accounts are paid on time so the majority of my day is spent contacting clients by telephone and email for payment.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The people I work with, everyone works really hard and it never goes unnoticed by managers or directors, everyone works as a team and helps each other.  The trips to Ibiza are a definite highlight.

Tell us about your proudest moment so far at CDM?

Going to visit a client and resolving queries on an account that had been in query for some time.  Sitting down and discussing the problems with the client and being able to resolve the queries between us.  This then led to the smooth running of a large account and a good business relationship.

Tell us about an embarrassing or funny moment during your time at CDM?

Falling down a flight of stairs in my swimwear when we were in Ibiza was pretty embarrassing!

How would you describe working here to anyone who is considering a career with CDM?

CDM is different to any company I have ever worked for and I realised this at interview stage. I was offered a second interview so I could come and meet the staff and see how things ran to make sure that not only was I right for CDM but that CDM was right for me.  CDM want staff to be happy inside and outside of work. I was able to arrange my working hours around the morning school run which is a massive help to me, it’s the little personal things that help people individually that makes such a difference.

The majority of staff has worked here for many years which speaks volumes.  Everyone has the opportunity to progress in the company and is encouraged to do so.  Everyone is part of the team and it’s a really friendly place to work.

What interests do you have outside of work?

Spending time with my two boys although I think they much prefer their game consoles to me! I play in a poker league, I like watching the darts on tv and football (an excuse to have a pint on a Saturday afternoon) and love going to gigs.

What was the last album you bought? Kings of Leon – Walls

What is your favourite film? Armageddon

Name your favourite restaurant:   Ora in Tynemouth

Who’s the most famous person you have met?   Not really met anyone as such, I was once sat next to Les Dennis in a restaurant and had my photo taken with Philip Schofield.

Describe your perfect weekend.

Chilled Friday night, takeaway and glass of wine. Saturday getting all dressed up for a day at the races, few drinks, hopefully a couple of winners then back to our local for a few more drinks. Nice chilled Sunday watching films or box sets on TV in my PJ’s.
