Job Description

The company is looking to pay in the region of 22 – 27K depending on your experience as well as supporting benefits such as pension, bonus etc other benefits negotiable. 45hrs per week. Looking for applicants that live within 20-25miles of Durham with ideally minimum 6 months experience in a similar role within the construction and or builders merchant sector.
Our client a well-known civil engineering sub-Contractor is seeking a Buyer to join their team based in Consett, Country Durham.
The organisation has a turnover of 18Million per annum, employs over 150 direct members of staff and has a strong reputation for undertaking drainage, plot works, sewers, tarmacking projects for large residential and housing schemes in the North East of England.
The ideal candidate would reside within 20 -24 mile radius of Consett and have a minimum of 6 -12 Months buyer purchasing experience within the Construction contractor or builders merchant sector. Applicants which excel in this role have excellent communication and negotiating skills, good IT skills (MS Office suite), prioritisation and telephone manner. This role will entail working 45 hours per week and the role offers considerable progression in terms of duties and personal progression as our client would look to assist with gaining a CIPS qualification.
The duties of the role will include:
Providing prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings
Identifying potential suppliers and new products
Contacting a range of suppliers and sub?contractors to obtain
quotations and agree delivery times
Keeping detailed records and maintaining a well?organised work
schedule
Assessing the reliability of sub?contractors and suppliers
Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of
materials
Ensuring compliance with the safety, health and environment
requirements of materials and services
Providing advice to the project estimator on the predicted cost of
individual items
Liaising closely with the estimator at the tendering stage to ensure that
an accurate project cost is provided
Preparing and maintaining cost reports in order to maximise efficiency
within the business
Negotiating and agreeing the most favourable terms possible with
suppliers once a contract has been secured.
