Job Description

Buyer – Darlington, North East
My client has recently gone through a restructure implementing a new contract requiring new systems, new processes and new people. We require a Buyer to join a small commercial team, initially on a 6 month fixed term contract, to implement these new processes from a procurement perspective.
Candidate:
– Good IT skills to use the new bespoke system
– Come from a civil engineering or construction background
– Have an awareness of sharing resources and facilities over multiple sites
– Ideally a good understanding of NEC3 contract and commercial experience
– Experience in buying plant and materials
Role:
This role will be 100% office based, however flexibility is there for you to attend site whenever you see fit. It is not required that you negotiate rates, perform take offs and get involved in estimates, however previous experience would be a benefit, as a pricing plan is ready and waiting. There is also great flexibility in working hours, you will work 40 hours per week with flexible start times between the hours of 07:00 – 17:00. The type pf package you can expect for this role is:
– Base: Up to 33,000
– Pension
– Private Healthcare
– 25 days holiday + stats
This client has found great success in the highways sector covering projects up to 5,000 as part of a framework. The works revolve around highways maintenance, covering responsibilities of winter treatment, gritting, grass cutting, barrier repair, street lighting, concrete repairs, joint repairs and relaying tarmac purely on A roads (eg. The A1).
