General Foreman,Works Manager

Job Description

We are specifically seeking a permanent General Foreman Works Manager with a proven background of leading civil engineering and infrastructure projects to work for a well-known civil engineering and infrastructure contractor that works purely in the North East of England.
The organisation employs just over 200 direct members of staff, offices in the North East of England and a turnover in excess of 30Million per annum. The company has a reputation for delivering a multitude of civil engineering projects including new roads, sewers, housing and commercial development groundworks and earthwork to name just a few. Their projects are either delivered as principle contractor or sub contractor depending on the nature of the work and often range between 100K and 15 Million in value.
Duties of the role
Responsible for all aspects of site operations and the performance of
site staff;
Continuously monitor subcontractors and direct labour under their
control to ensure all safety requirements are met and the site
cleanliness is maintained;
Ensure labour resources on site matches programmed/planned labour
requirements;
Monitor and record progress of the works and assist in/or prepare
short programmes for activities under the direct control
To direct any instruction from the Clients Representative to the Site
Agent before taking action;
Ensure that the companies Divisional Safety Policy and its requirements
are complied with and to ensure that the site team are all aware of their
responsibilities in respect of safe working practices;
Ensure all H&S procedures are complied with by all individuals on site;
Where controlling work in relation to excavations etc. monitor planking
and strutting or other support systems for safe working before allowing
anyone to enter any excavation and during the progress of work.

Knowledge skills & experience
City & Guilds in civil engineering; (desirable)
Safety training scheme (CITB 5 day/Level 3); (essential)
CIOB Site Management Certificate; Diploma.(desirable)
Working in the Water Industry for minimum 5 years (desirable)
Excellent civil engineering knowledge (essential)
Excellent knowledge of formwork, concrete finishing and underground
pipework (essential).

Attention to detail;
Sets high standards in environmental, health, safety and quality on site;
Proactive
Excellent motivator
Has drive to delivery projects on site and to a very high standard of
health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
A background of working on site in relevant trades or supervisory
positions sufficient to give an in depth understanding of work stream
processes which the individual is responsible for supervising;
Dependant on the project or section of work being supervised specialist
knowledge may at times be desirable or essential.
